METER QUALIFICATION BOARD

WECO 8020
WECO 8030

The WECO Meter Qualification Boards—WECO 8020 and WECO 8030—by Radian Research are advanced test platforms designed for comprehensive functional qualification of revenue-grade electricity meters, including both single-phase and three-phase models.

Unlike basic warm-up or load boards that simply apply voltage or current, these Meter Qualification Boards (MQBs) enable utilities and meter shops to safely and efficiently validate a wide range of non-accuracy meter functions, including communications, disconnect and reconnect operations, demand and rate configuration, alarms, and feature verification. The WECO 8020 and WECO 8030 provide a flexible, controlled environment for confirming proper meter operation prior to deployment, return to service, or troubleshooting.

Product Highlights

The WECO 8020 and WECO 8030 boards are purpose‑built to improve test throughput and yield in meter shops and calibration labs. Featuring an open socket design exclusive to RADIAN, these boards ensure operator safety and seamless continuity of test operations — even when sockets are empty.

Built‑in control interfaces and connectivity options support modern meter communication tests, programming, and verification workflows, making these boards essential for complete meter qualification.

Features

Comprehensive Meter Functional Testing
  • Extensive Functional Testing – Beyond powering or loading meters, these boards allow verification of communications (PLC, IR, RF), disconnect/reconnect behavior, alarms, demand/rate/tariff settings, and delivered/received energy.
  • Open Socket Safety Design – RADIAN’s exclusive design ensures dead‑front safety when sockets are empty and maintains full operation for populated sockets.
  • Versatile Control Interfaces – Each four‑socket bank includes a 7″ color touch display for local control, status monitoring, and parameter setting.
  • Ethernet & Virtual Serial Connectivity – Built‑in Ethernet supports PC connectivity; virtual serial‑over‑Ethernet enables use of manufacturer firmware update tools (optional Optocom adapter).
  • Scalable & Flexible Configuration – Boards can operate independently or be combined into larger multi‑socket systems supporting up to 24 meters.
  • Enhanced Safety Features – Socket‑independent over‑current protection, resettable breakers, and emergency stop buttons safeguard both equipment and personnel.
