Product Highlights
Each socket has a dead-front safety interlock, and a plexiglass socket shield guides meter blades into the zero-insertion-force jaws while reducing the chance of dropping meter seals onto socket conductors. A manual lever jaw release and all-aluminum frame round out a board built for daily shop use.
Each vertical bank of four sockets is isolated, with its own power switch and resettable breaker. Selector switches set the meter form and voltage for each column, so the board adapts to the meters in front of it.
There is no energy reference standard or current source in this solution. Voltage is tied to line voltage through transformers.

- Voltage selector switch with 11 settings: 69 V, 120 V, 138 V, 208 V, 120/240 V, 240 V, 277 V, 347 V, 240/480 V, 480 V, and 600 V.
- Zero-insertion-force meter sockets with manual lever jaw release.
- Dead-front safety interlocks and a plexiglass socket shield at every socket.
- Isolated banks of four sockets, each with its own power switch and resettable safety breaker.
- Single- or double-sided, up to 56 meter capacity, on an all-aluminum frame with locking wheels and standard 120 V, 15 A service.
AMI Meter Functional Warm-Up Board
- Set each column. Select the meter form and voltage for the meters you are testing.
- Seat the meters. The socket shield guides the blades into the zero-insertion-force jaws.
- Switch on the bank and check each meter: display, AMI communication, firmware version, error status, and disconnect switch operation.
- Move meters that pass to your Test Board, such as the WECO 4050X, for accuracy testing. Each bank of four switches off on its own, so you can change meters without powering down the board.
Which WECO Warm-Up Board Fits Your Shop?
All three boards power meters on a roll-around cart before accuracy testing. The WECO 9000 and WECO 9050 apply voltage for AMI functional screening, such as power-up, display, communication, and disconnect checks. The WECO 9200 adds variable current, so meters run under load.
None of the three boards includes an energy reference standard. On the WECO 9200, source adjustment accuracy depends on the ammeter and voltmeter accuracy. On the WECO 9000 and WECO 9050, voltage is tied to line voltage through transformers. On all three, differential losses due to multiple meter loading also apply.
| Board | Applies | Meter forms | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| WECO 9000 | Voltage, tied to line voltage through transformers | One fixed form per column, set when the board is built | AMI functional screening before accuracy testing |
| WECO 9050 | Voltage, tied to line voltage through transformers | Several forms, chosen with a selector switch | AMI functional testing before accuracy testing |
| WECO 9200 | Variable voltage and independent A and C element current | 11 forms, chosen with a selector switch | Running meters under load over time to confirm energy accumulation and functional operation |
WECO 9050 FAQ
Why check AMI meters before accuracy testing
Process improvement workshops RADIAN has facilitated at utilities found AMI meter testing pass yields as low as 65%, mostly from basic functional failures. Catching those on the WECO 9050 keeps your accuracy Test Boards working on meters that are ready to test.
Can the WECO 9050 test meter accuracy
No. There is no energy reference standard or current source in this solution, and voltage is tied to line voltage through transformers. For accuracy testing, use a Test Board such as the WECO 4050X or the multi-position WECO 8050, 8100, and 8200. To run meters under load, see the WECO 9200.
How is the WECO 9050 different from the WECO 9000
Both boards power AMI meters for functional testing. On the WECO 9000, the meter form for each column is fixed when the board is built. On the WECO 9050, selector switches let you change the meter form and voltage for each column on the shop floor.
Which meter forms and voltages does the WECO 9050 support
The meter form switch covers 1S, 2S, 3S, 4S, 5S/35S/45S, 6S/14S, 9S/16S, and 12S/25S. The voltage switch has 11 settings: 69 V, 120 V, 138 V, 208 V, 120/240 V, 240 V, 277 V, 347 V, 240/480 V, 480 V, and 600 V.
What configurations and power does the WECO 9050 need
The board is available single-sided or double-sided, with up to 56 meter capacity in banks of four sockets. It runs on standard 120 V, 15 A service and carries a two-year warranty.
