AUTOMATED COMPARATOR

RADIAN RM-111

The RM‑111 is a compact and versatile automated comparator designed to significantly simplify the testing of watthour billing meters and reference standards.

It automates pulse counting, error calculation, and result logging—eliminating much of the manual data entry and record‑keeping traditionally associated with meter testing.

Product Highlights

With support for both field verification and laboratory standard testing, the RM‑111 connects directly to meter outputs or reference pulses, prompts the user for setup parameters (such as Kh and test duration), then captures pulses, computes registration or error percentages, and optionally stores or transmits results.

It integrates seamlessly with RADIAN’s test accessories and software, enabling efficient data collection, reporting, and automation.

Streamlined Accuracy & Automation
  • Eliminates manual calculations and logging for meter and standard testing.
  • Dual pulse‑input counters for reference and device under test (DUT) comparisons.
  • Supports averaging multiple reference standards for enhanced repeatability.
  • Prints or exports test results via PC interface and optional RM‑111 Link™ software.
  • Compatible with a wide range of RADIAN reference standards and meter test setups.
  • Portable design, rechargeable/battery operation for field applications.

Compact and Versatile Automated Comparator

How a Comparison Test Works
  1. Connect the pulse output of your reference standard, or up to three standards, and the output of the device under test.
  2. Set up the test by entering Kh and test duration, or recall one of up to 20 stored meter setups or 12 standard setups.
  3. Run it. The RM-111 counts pulses from both sides and calculates percent registration or percent error for full load, light load, power factor and demand.
  4. Keep the record. Results for up to 100 meter tests and 28 standard tests are stored, ready to print on an optional portable printer or upload with RADIAN software.

Where the RM-111 Fits

The RM-111 is a pocket-sized link between your RADIAN reference standards and whatever you need to test. It uses pulse counting, so it works with any electronic or electromechanical standard, any test board and any solid-state or induction meter, single-phase or polyphase.

Where How the RM-111 is used
Meter shop Tests electronic or electromechanical reference standards against one to three RADIAN standards, such as the RADIAN RD-22
Laboratory Automates testing with your existing voltage and current sources and RADIAN software
Field Tests solid-state and induction meters without carrying a laptop

RADIAN RM-111 FAQ

What can the RM-111 test?

Any electronic or mechanical reference standard, any test board, and any solid-state or induction meter, in single-phase or polyphase configurations. It can also work as a pulse divider to interface with other products.

Yes. It can average up to three reference standards, such as three RADIAN RD-22s, for a more precise and repeatable reference. It can also sum up to three standards to test polyphase standards and meters.

With digital gating, the RM-111's counting error is less than 0.0001%, so the accuracy of the test is set by the reference standard you connect. Keep that standard current with RADIAN Calibration Services.

From a 9-volt battery or a 9–12 V AC adapter, with a low-battery indicator. It weighs about 0.85 lb, is splash-proof, and operates from -20 to 70 °C (-4 to 158 °F).

The RM-111 compares pulses from a separate reference standard against a meter, standard or test board. The RADIAN RM-17 has its own built-in reference standard and synthesized current source for testing residential meters in service.
