Wireless Pulse Link

PRL-1600C

The SSI PRL-1600C Wireless Pulse Link is our 4th Generation point-to-point wireless pulse transmission system, designed to solve short-hop pulse connection problems across parking lots, fields, roads, railroad tracks, and other obstacles where hardwired KYZ runs are impractical. Using 900MHz Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology across 6 selectable channels — each comprising 50 of 64 available frequencies — the PRL-1600C delivers excellent interference rejection, support for multiple co-located systems, and FCC pre-certified unlicensed operation.

The system consists of one PRT-1600C Transmitter and one PRR-1600C Receiver, each made up of a base unit and a separate Radio/Antenna unit for outdoor mounting. The transmitter and receiver are factory-paired and support up to four Form A (2-wire) or two Form C (3-wire) pulse channels. Nominal line-of-sight range is 2,500 to 5,000 feet depending on terrain and mounting height.

Product Highlights

The PRL-1600C operates in a 10-second interval mode: the transmitter collects pulse counts over each 10-second window and transmits them to the receiver, which then re-creates the pulses over the following 10 seconds. This architecture significantly reduces RF traffic while enabling robust error-checking and pulse count verification — making it well suited for peak demand applications where pulse timing accuracy is critical.

Transmitter boards are color-coded green and receiver boards red to prevent field mix-ups. Both units accept 120–277VAC line power or +12VDC (supporting solar and battery operation), and optional NEMA 4X fiberglass enclosures are available for base units. AES encryption is included for secure transmission.

Features

The SSI PRL-1600C is SSI's 4th Generation 900MHz FHSS wireless pulse link, transmitting up to 4 Form A or 2 Form C KYZ channels up to 5,000 feet line-of-sight.
  • Up to 5,000-foot line-of-sight range — 900MHz FHSS radio with 6 selectable hop-sequence channels; up to 2,500–5,000 feet depending on site conditions.
  • 4 Form A or 2 Form C pulse channels — transmits and receives up to four 2-wire KY or two 3-wire KYZ channels; entire system must operate in one mode.
  • 10-second interval accuracy mode — pulses collected and transmitted every 10 seconds with error-checking and pulse count verification for high accuracy.
  • Factory-paired transmitter and receiver — pre-paired at factory; pairing procedure only required if a unit is replaced.
  • AES encryption — encoded FHSS communication scheme provides secure and accurate pulse delivery.
  • 120–277VAC or +12VDC power input — supports line power or solar/battery operation via SSI SPS-2 Solar Power Supply.
  • Color-coded boards — green transmitter boards and red receiver boards prevent installation errors in the field.
