The PPT-1’s combination of sunlight-readable LEDs and two-tone audio is specifically designed for the realities of meter fieldwork — where meters may be mounted in bright outdoor enclosures, noisy substations, or other environments where a standard LED indicator is difficult to see or where a technician’s hands and eyes may be occupied. The audio tone changes with each KY or KZ contact transition, providing an unambiguous indication of KYZ output state without visual contact.
Its compact, lightweight, handheld enclosure and AA battery power make it the most portable and lowest-cost verification tool in the SSI lineup — ideal to carry alongside other field equipment as a quick go/no-go check.

The SSI PPT-1 is a battery-powered KYZ pulse tester with sunlight-readable LEDs and two-tone audio output for quick visual and audible pulse output verification in the field.
- Two-tone audio output — distinct tones for K-Y and K-Z transitions; allows audible pulse verification without watching the display.
- Sunlight-readable LEDs — super-bright red and green LEDs clearly display K-Y and K-Z continuity status in direct outdoor light.
- Form C and Form A compatible — configured for 3-wire Form C; usable in 2-wire Form A mode with either lead pair.
- Built-in 3VDC wetting voltage — supplies sense voltage to the meter's Y and Z outputs; no external power source required.
- Two replaceable AA batteries — no recharging required; readily available batteries for unlimited field use.
- Pulse-to-Test pushbutton — momentary activation conserves battery life; circuit only energized during testing.
- Color-coded alligator clip leads — Red (K), Yellow (Y), Black (Z) with 18" leads for flexible connection to meter terminals.
