PPG-1

The SSI PPG-1 Programmable Pulse Generator is a microcontroller-based, high-speed pulse generator designed to produce two independent, isolated dry-contact Form A (KY) outputs at fully programmable pulse rates and patterns. Unlike the simpler P-1 Pulser, the PPG-1 offers precision USB programming via a standard terminal program — giving engineers, energy professionals, and test technicians complete control over pulse width, spacing, count, and mode across a range from 50 microseconds to 10 seconds per pulse or gap.

The PPG-1 features three independent operating modes: Continuous mode generates a sustained pulse stream of specified width and spacing; One-Time mode outputs a single programmable sequence when triggered; and Interval mode generates a repeating sequence of pulses at a defined interval — useful for simulating demand interval metering scenarios. Channels 1 and 2 operate completely independently, each programmable for different modes, pulse widths, and interval lengths.

Product Highlights

All PPG-1 settings are stored in non-volatile EEPROM memory — on power-up, the PPG-1 immediately resumes operation with the last programmed configuration, eliminating the need to reprogram between sessions. If a pulse scenario is not achievable within the timing constraints of the programmed on and off times, the microcontroller notifies the user rather than executing incorrect output — preventing accidental misrepresentation during testing.

Built-in MOV transient protection and K-lead fusing protect the solid-state outputs from overcurrent, incorrect wiring, and voltage events. Polycarbonate construction encloses all powered components, and the base plate’s electrical insulation separates the circuit from the mounting surface.
