The SSI OPP-1 Optical Pulse Pickup is a convenient, low-cost accessory that enables energy consumption monitoring from compatible electric meters without any physical electrical connection. By magnetically mounting to the meter’s Optocom port, the OPP-1 detects the meter’s infrared calibration pulse — emitted each time a pre-determined number of watt-hours (typically 1 kWh) is consumed — and converts it into a standard Form C KYZ pulse output compatible with power monitoring equipment.

The OPP-1 is a read-only, one-directional device that draws its power from the PCR-3 relay it connects to via an included 25-foot 3-conductor control cable — no additional power supply is required. This makes it an ideal tool for temporary load survey work, demand response programs, and energy management activities where a fast, low-cost, non-intrusive monitoring solution is needed.
