Programmable Dividing Pulse Relay

DPR-2

The SSI DPR-2 Programmable Dividing Pulse Relay is a microcontroller-based, high-speed relay that delivers highly precise pulse division and conversion. It provides two independent dry 2-wire Form A outputs from a single Form A input, with a programmable input-to-output ratio settable anywhere between .00001 and 100,000 using floating-point math. This precision makes the DPR-2 ideal for applications requiring exact pulse value scaling across electricity, water, or gas metering systems.

The DPR-2 operates in two modes: Pulse Divider mode, which divides raw pulse counts by a specified number, and Pulse Conversion mode, which converts pulse values between units (kWh, gallons, or CCF) with high accuracy. In both modes, pulse counts are stored in non-volatile EEPROM memory, so no data is lost in the event of a power failure. The DPR-2 is programmed via USB using the SSI Universal Programmer software or a terminal program such as TeraTerm.

Product Highlights

The DPR-2’s Pulse Conversion mode goes beyond simple division — it accepts the actual unit value of each input pulse, accumulates the total energy or volume consumed, and generates output pulses when the programmed output value threshold is reached. This enables extremely precise cross-unit conversions that a simple divider relay cannot achieve, making it well suited for billing interface, SCADA, and energy management applications.

Output pulse length is programmable from 5mS to 1000mS, and a configurable minimum-off time prevents outputs from overwhelming downstream equipment. If output pulses accumulate faster than they can be transmitted, the microcontroller queues up to 65,383 pending output pulses in EEPROM — ensuring zero pulse loss even under high-rate conditions or power interruptions.

Features

The SSI DPR-2 is a programmable dividing pulse relay with floating-point ratio scaling from .00001 to 100,000, dual isolated outputs, and non-volatile pulse memory.
  • Floating-point ratio scaling — programmable input-to-output ratio from .00001 to 100,000 for precise pulse value conversion.
  • Dual operating modes — Pulse Divider mode for raw count division; Pulse Conversion mode for unit-based scaling in kWh, gallons, or CCF.
  • Two isolated Form A outputs — dual dry KY contacts rated at 250VAC/VDC, 100mA, with 3500Vrms input/output isolation.
  • Non-volatile EEPROM memory — stores pulse counts and pending output queue through power failures; up to 65,383 pulses queued.
  • Programmable output timing — output pulse width settable from 5mS to 1000mS with configurable minimum-off time.
  • USB programmability — configured via SSI Universal Programmer software or standard terminal programs (TeraTerm, PuTTY, HyperTerminal).
  • Red and green LED indicators — display input and output status at all times for rapid visual system verification.
