Customer Interface Device

CID-3

The SSI CID-3 Customer Interface Device is a 3-channel, low-cost, fused KY termination device designed for metering applications that require three separate pulse channels — typically watts delivered, watts received, and vars delivered. It provides three sets of KY connector terminals — one set for each of three meters’ KY output terminals and a corresponding set for the customer’s energy control system input — all in a single compact, watertight enclosure.

The CID-3 is housed in the same watertight Noryl enclosure used by the CID-1 and CID-2, with a beaded-gasket lid, four ½” conduit knockouts, and Euro-type terminal strips. Note that unlike the CID-1 and CID-2 which support both Form A and Form C (KYZ) connections, the CID-3 supports Form A (KY, 2-wire) connections only across all three channels.

Product Highlights

The CID-3 was developed in direct response to customer demand for a three-channel termination device — addressing the common need in commercial and industrial metering for watts delivered, watts received, and vars delivered to be available simultaneously at a customer interface point. Each K lead is individually fused, and a built-in snubber network provides transient suppression across all three channels.

The CID-3 delivers three channels of clean, fused, transient-protected KY connectivity in the same compact 4.5″ x 4.5″ x 2.25″ footprint as the CID-1 and CID-2, making it a natural upgrade path for installations where a single or dual-channel device is insufficient.

Features

The SSI CID-3 is a 3-channel fused KY termination device that connects three utility meter pulse outputs to a customer energy control system in a watertight Noryl enclosure.
  • Three independent KY channels — provides three sets of K, Y terminals for three meter inputs and three customer equipment outputs.
  • Form A (2-wire) only — all three channels operate as 2-wire KY connections; not compatible with 3-wire KYZ inputs.
  • Per-channel K lead fusing — each K lead individually fused; protects each meter and output channel independently.
  • 250VAC/VDC maximum voltage — rated for standard utility metering voltage levels across all three channels.
  • 50 milliohm input/output resistance — negligible circuit resistance preserves pulse signal integrity across all channels.
  • Built-in snubber network — provides transient suppression across all three channels without external surge devices.
  • Watertight Noryl enclosure — beaded-gasket lid; same compact 4.5" x 4.5" x 2.25" footprint as the CID-1 and CID-2.
