Dual Pulse Isolation Relay

SPR-24

The SSI SPR-24 Dual Pulse Isolation Relay is designed to provide four isolated dry-contact solid-state Form C (KYZ) outputs from two independent Form A or C inputs in a single compact package. Its primary application is in installations where two independent isolation relay channels are needed — each with multiple outputs — without requiring two separate relay units. Each of the four outputs is switch-selectable to follow either of the two inputs, giving the user full flexibility to assign one, two, three, or all four outputs to a single input channel as the application requires.

The SPR-24 operates over the standard SSI wide voltage range using a built-in low-voltage transformer-isolated power supply that generates a +13VDC sense voltage supplied to the connected meters’ Y and Z pulse initiator output terminals. It is compatible with electric meters having electromechanical or semiconductor output contacts, either high or low voltage, and is designed for high-speed pulse applications — capable of switching up to 72,000 pulses per hour in 3-wire mode and 36,000 pulses per hour in 2-wire mode.

Product Highlights

Each input channel of the SPR-24 is independently configurable for either Long or Short output pulse mode. In Long mode, the output pulse width mirrors the input pulse duration exactly, making it ideal for standard energy pulse applications. In Short mode, the output is fixed at 100 milliseconds regardless of input duration — well suited for end-of-interval pulses or applications where a consistent, fixed-width output is required by the downstream device.

Built-in MOV transient protection on all solid-state relay contacts eliminates the need for external suppressors, and the polycarbonate enclosure and base plate provide maximum user protection and excellent electrical insulation from the mounting surface. The SPR-24 is intended for installation inside a user-supplied enclosure appropriate for the operating environment.

Features

The SSI SPR-24 provides four isolated solid-state Form C KYZ outputs from two independent Form A or C inputs, with switch-selectable output assignment and long/short pulse modes.
  • Two independent input channels — accepts two Form A (2-wire) or Form C (3-wire) inputs, each with +13VDC sense voltage supplied to the meter's Y and Z terminals.
  • Four isolated Form C outputs — four solid-state dry-contact KYZ outputs; each switch-selectable to follow either input channel independently.
  • Flexible output assignment — any combination of outputs can follow either input; one input can control one, two, three, or all four outputs.
  • Long and Short pulse output modes — Long mode mirrors input pulse width; Short mode produces a fixed 100mS output closure per input transition.
  • High-speed pulse rated — handles up to 72,000 pulses/hour in 3-wire mode and 36,000 pulses/hour in 2-wire mode.
  • Wide voltage range power supply — built-in low-voltage transformer-isolated supply; compatible with high and low voltage semiconductor and mechanical meter outputs.
  • Built-in MOV transient protection — eliminates the need for external or off-board transient suppressors on all four output contacts.
