Metering Pulse Totalizer

MPT-4C

The SSI MPT-4C Metering Pulse Totalizer is designed to combine pulse outputs from up to four 2-wire Form A or 3-wire Form C meter inputs into a single totalized output. Inputs are signed positive or negative, enabling both additive and subtractive configurations — making the MPT-4C ideal for applications such as power generation metering where station power must be subtracted from generated output, or for multi-meter demand billing setups.

The MPT-4C’s output module operates in either 1-channel mode (single KYZ output) or 2-channel mode (two independent KY channels with separate output values). In both configurations, two physical outputs are provided per channel, eliminating the need for an additional pulse-splitting relay. All input and output values are field-programmable directly on the unit using the built-in LCD display and pushbuttons — no external tools required.

Product Highlights

The MPT-4C includes a peak demand software module that continuously tracks average kW demand within each interval and stores the peak demand value in non-volatile memory for later retrieval. A separate demand reset function allows the peak demand register to be cleared independently without resetting pulse counts. An End-of-Interval (EOI) input from one of the four meters coordinates interval timing and synchronizes output delivery.

All settings — including four-digit per-input pulse values (0001–9999), a six-digit output value (000001–999999), and minimum output pulse spacing (20–1000mS in 10mS increments) — are stored in non-volatile memory and retained through power loss. Software debouncing validates all inputs for correct sequence and minimum contact closure duration, providing strong noise rejection.

Features

The SSI MPT-4C totalizes pulse outputs from four meter inputs with signed additive/subtractive capability, peak demand tracking, EOI support, and 1- or 2-channel output modes.
  • Four signed pulse inputs — accepts up to four Form A or Form C inputs; each assignable a positive or negative value for additive/subtractive totalization.
  • 1-channel or 2-channel output modes — single KYZ output or two independent KY channels, each with two physical outputs and unique output values.
  • Peak demand tracking — built-in software module records average kW demand per interval and stores peak demand in non-volatile memory.
  • EOI input support — accepts an End-of-Interval signal from one of the four meters to coordinate interval boundaries and output timing.
  • Field-programmable without tools — four-digit input values and six-digit output values set via onboard LCD display and pushbuttons.
  • Non-volatile memory — all settings and pulse counts stored in EEPROM; retained through power interruptions.
  • Software debouncing and noise rejection — validates every input for correct sequence and minimum closure duration before counting.
