The SSI SPR-3 Pulse Isolation Relay provides three sets of isolated, dry solid state Form C (K, Y & Z) contacts from a single field-selectable Form A or C input across a wide voltage range. A solid state output equivalent of the RPR-3PS, the SPR-3 supplies a +13 VDC sense voltage to the sending device and is compatible with meters using high or low voltage semiconductor outputs as well as mechanical relay contacts.

Typical applications include interfaces between utility metering devices and customer-owned energy control systems, demand recorders, and supervisory control (SCADA) systems. With three isolated output channels derived from a single input, the SPR-3 is the ideal choice for installations where a single pulse source must simultaneously feed multiple downstream monitoring or control systems.

Product Highlights

The SPR-3 is built for reliable, noise-free operation in utility metering and energy management environments. Input filtering circuitry rejects pulses shorter than 18 ms to prevent false triggering, and built-in MOV transient protection on the solid state relay contacts removes the need for any external suppression components. Each “K” output lead is individually fused at 1/10 amp to guard against excessive current or wiring errors. Bright red and green LED indicators provide continuous, real-time system status without requiring additional test equipment.

Safety and ease of installation are central to the SPR-3’s design. The “Euro” style terminal strip keeps all conductive parts recessed when wiring is correctly installed, protecting users from accidental electrical shock. All powered components — except the terminal strip — are enclosed within a polycarbonate cover, and the polycarbonate mounting base plate provides excellent electrical insulation between the circuit and the mounting surface. The SPR-3 mounts in any position inside a user-supplied enclosure appropriate for the intended application.
