The 453 Phantom Load is the answer. At just a fraction of the size and weight of conventional loads, the 453 can supply up to 50 amps of current for the Open-Link testing of all Single and Polyphase meters.
Meter Testing
Operating voltage of the 453 is user selectable and covers all common service voltages from 120 to 480 volts. Both unity and 0.5 power factor tests can be performed with a single flip of a switch.
Overview
When small size and light weight are required, the 453 Phantom Load is the answer. At just a fraction of the size and weight of conventional loads, the 453 can supply up to 50 amps of current for the Open-Link testing of all Single and Polyphase meters.
Operating voltage of the 453 is user selectable and covers all common service voltages from 120 to 480 volts. Both unity and 0.5 power factor tests can be performed with a single flip of a switch. Test current can be linearly ramped from 0 to full scale and can be monitored on a large front panel meter.
With the addition of the RM-111 Automated Comparator, the 453 turns into a semi-automatic test system with the ability to automatically calculate, display, and store test results for solid state and electromechanical meters.

Test Current
Switch selectable with FL and LL values placed on adjacent switch positions. Current value linearly adjustable from 0 to full scale from the front panel. Front panel display is provided for indication of relative output current.
Model 453 - Full load currents - 50, 30, 15, 10, 5, 2.5 Amperes.
Light load currents - 5, 3, 1.5, 1, 0.5, 0.25 Amperes.
Power Factor
Switch selectable from 1.0 and 0.5 lag (Current lagging voltage).

All test cables are manufactured from super flexible silicone rubber insulated wire that remains flexible over a temperature range of -67ºC to +150ºC and are loomed with a tight weave loom for extra protection and convenience. All cables are approximately 7.5 feet long.
Case
Re-inforced ABS enclosure. Very durable. A reinforced handle is provided on the top and a shoulder strap on the ends is available. Operating instructions, removable lid, and removable tool tray are provided.
